During the install or upgrade of Desktop Authority, the following message may be displayed:
“The Current user is not the local or domain administrator”.
There may be many causes for this error but the most likely issue is that there is a problem with DNS, which adversely affects a LDAP query being made to a DC.
Navigate to the %ProgramData%\ScriptLogic\DaConsole directory and view the DAInstaller.log file. If the DAInstaller.log file contains an entry that the “The LDAP server is unavailable.” or it contains an entry stating "ERROR Unable to check group membership. GroupSID: 'S-1-5-21-2130729834-2085887884-1897138802-512', user: 'Domain\Account', then the problem is DNS related.
From the server where the installation of Desktop Authority is being performed, open a command prompt and ping the domain using the NetBIOS name and FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) to ensure that the correct IP Addresses are being returned for the domain controllers. If the IPv4 address is not returned, then edit the Hosts file to point a Domain Controllers IP to the domain's NetBios name. Then re-run the installation file.
If that does not resolve the issue please Contact Support.
