Users may find that they are unable to access messages that have been attached to archived messages (embedded messages).
This is usually because the security of the embedded message has not been correctly assigned. This is done by entering a corresponding record into the "MailboxMessage" table for the MessageID of the embedded message and the MailboxID of the users mailbox.
Archive Manager uses SQL jobs to automatically assign security to messages by checking the email address on the message.
These SQL jobs are configured to run on newer messages only however, as they can be quite intensive if run on a large number of messages.
In versions of Archive Manager previous to 4.3, add the following setting and value to the Archive Manager configuration editor, the number of days should reflect the age of the oldest message which requires security to be assigned correctly:
Populate Mailbox Message Days | 365
Note: Setting security on a large number of messages is an intensive operation and will heavily utilise SQL resources, this operation is best carried out out-of-hours.
Once the SQL job "Assign Security to New Messages" has completed, remove the setting or set it back to 10.
In Archive Manager versions 4.3 and above, the setting is already present in the AM Configuration Editor:
LinkEmbeddedMessages LastDateModified | 2010-09-29 00:02:32.393
Change the date value to a date before the oldest message which requires security to be assigned correctly. This value should then be updated once security has been applied on the messages.
