Where does Linux_System get data for "Blocked_Procs" and "Procs_Waiting_for_IO" fields?
Two separate boxes running the same Linux distro (see below) show the same very high number of blocked processes (87, 90). Interestingly the same number of procs appears in both Blocked_Procs and Procs_Waiting_For_IO fields.
What is the logic in this? How do we corroborate these numbers? -
Resolution
Under Linux, Blocked_Procs and Procs_Waiting_For_IO should always be the same number. It should be (approximately) the number of processes in State 'S' in the output of 'ps -efl' on that machine
