Tivoli Store Manager (TSM) using Tivoli Data Protection for Exchange 6.4.2 can not enumerate restore location presented by Recovery Manager for Exchange (RME). Setting RME to emulate Public folders databases and launching emulation only lists mailbox databases as "Restore Into" location in the TSM TDP Client for Exchange.
There is no specific instructions in the RME documentation on how to restore Public Folders
Tivoli does not allow user to restore public folders databases to an alternate location.
STATUS
Enhancement Request TF00289010 has been raised to amend the documentation accordingly. This will be added in a future release of Recovery Manager for Exchange.
WORKAROUND
The workaround is to redirect the restore onto the RME machine which is configured to emulate Mailbox database (and not Public Folder). Follow these steps:
1. Start RME emulation for Tivoli, having selected “Manually enter information about Exchange Server” mode
2. Specify database name and select "Mailbox database" as database type
3. In TSM select the specified database as a target
