A user whose mailbox is in a switched state modifies the calendar of a user whose mailbox is in an un-switched state (or vice versa). Is this change visible to the other user in real-time?
This change will only be visible after the CSA has had a chance to update the other mailbox.
It is recommended for the best user experience to switch mailboxes of users who collaborate with each other (share calendars, etc.) at the same time.
To clarify:
Scenario 1: user A & user B both have same status (either both mailboxes switched or both un-switched)
Both read & update the same calendar, either in the source environment (both un-switched) or target (both switched), so information always current & updated in real-time.
Scenario 2: user A switched & user B not switched (or vice versa)
The un-switched user reads & updates their calendar in source whereas the switched user reads & updates the copy in target. The switched user relies upon the updates that are made in source being syncronized to the copy in target by the CSA. This is not real-time, & how long it takes for updates to be made depends on many factors such as the number of mailboxes processed in the calendar sync job, network speed, hardware performance, etc. You will only ever know for certain what will happen in your environment through testing.
Scenario 2 may also require two-way synchronization of calendars, whereas Scenario 1 may only require one-way.
Usually a calendar sync collection for user mailboxes will sync one-way (from source > target whilst the mailbox is unswitched, then from target > source after the mailbox is switched).
