The legacy FileSystem agent collects the Mount_Device metric, which is the device name. The new IC agent doesn't collect the device name. Why is that? Can we use the legacy FileSystem and Disk IO agents along with Infrastructure (IC) agent and disable the Disk collection of the IC agent so that the device name is available?
The Infrastructure cartridge agent wasn't designed to collect the device name.
The Infrastructure agent and the Legacy Operating System cartridge agents write to different parts of the topology tree and none of the new dashboards check or display the data stored in the old locations. So, disabling the Disk collection of the IC agent and deploying the FileSystem and the DiskIO agents won't be a viable approach. Also, support for the OS cartridge agents is currently scheduled to be discontinued in July 2014.
WORKAROUND: None.
STATUS: Enhancement request IC-1124 was released in the IC 5.8.1 cartridge and requires FMS 5.7.1 and FglAm 5.8.1.
