Active Directory agent stop working after 8-10 hours
Description

Several Active Directory (AD) agents are running on one Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM). After 8-10 hours all agents stop working and only a FglAM restart can solve the issue.

Resolution

Please adjust the collection settings of the AD agent as described below:

Go to Administration -> Agent Status
Select one of the agent and click on "Edit properties"
The values need to be changed under "Data Collection Config"

Here the needed settings

Collection Name	Collection Frequency	Purpose
Domain	1 day	Get information about the domain: • Get Forest and Domain function level • Get Domain Function Mode • Get subnets for given DCs • Get FRS Replication Mode • Get Child Domain • Get Trusted Domain This information will be fairly static, so it does not need to be collected very often.
Adobjects	1 day	Get user, group and computer count of a given domain. This information is displayed on the Forests and Domain dashboard and again will be fairly static.
Time	30 mins	Get up-time of a given domain controller. Useful for determining if the domain controller has recently gone down.
Replication	30 mins	Get Replication metrics. Useful for determining if a domain controller is replicating users, groups and password changes.
Site	1 day	Get all of the info about site, such as siteLink, siteName and DIT size of database. This information will be fairly static, so it does not need to be collected very often.
Database	4 hours	Get Active Directory Database metrics, such as IO Database Read Writes, Log writes. This information will be fairly static, but could be used for diagnose an issue with a domain controller.
Role	30 mins	Get info about FSMO & Global Catalog in Top AD Metrics of Roles. It can be found via "Active Directory Environment Domain Controllers \| \| Top AD metrics \| Roles". Useful information on main dashboard.
Dns	30 mins	Get info about DNS in Top AD Metrics of Roles. It can be found via "Active Directory Environment Domain Controllers \| \| Top AD metrics \| Roles". Useful information on main dashboard.
Frs	30 mins	Get Distributed File Replication services information.This is used for replicating the Netlogon directory around. Useful for determining if the domain controller has recently gone down.
directoryService	15 mins	Get information of LDAP service. Core the Active Directory authentication, the most important information.
Daily	1 day	Attached to the "DC Recognition Watchdog rule". Checks "dcRecognition" data, which in turn could lead to new domain controllers not being recognized.
Hostdetail	15 mins	CPU/Memory/Network for physical domain controllers.
dotNetFramework	30 mins	Get memory usage of .NET. This can be found via "adExplorer \| \| Summay \| Resource Utilization \| Details".
