There may be a need to archive/strip only some parts of an organizations Public Folders.
Can Exchange Public Folders be partially archived?
Yes. Its possible to archive only some parts of Exchange Public Folders.
The Archive Manager Exchange Store Manager (ESM) service account needs client permission on a public folder to export or strip messages in it.
If no client permission on a public folder has been assigned to the ESM service account explicitly and the default permission on the public folder is none and invisible, ESM service will have no access to the public folder and therefore the public folder will not be exported.
To export messages from a public folder, the ESM service account needs at least Reviewer permission.
To strip messages from a public folder, the ESM service account needs at least Author permission (or custom permission with read items and edit all items).
