NetBackup fails with the error: the restore failed to recover the requested files.
When reviewing the Recovery Manager for Exchange logs there are no Apiemulation logs created or there is nothing logged to them during the failed recovery attempts.
Search the registry for apiemulation.dll and apiemulation64.dll and confirm each registry entry with a path to the dll files has the correct path. The path should be in the 8.3 format, such as C:\PROGRA~1\QUESTS~1\RECOVE~1\ApiEmulation64.dll.
Confirm the 8.3 file system is enabled on the RME server by opening a command prompt and running the command:
fsutil 8dot3name query
The 8.3 file system is enabled, the output should be NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation has a state of 0 or 2.
If the restore still fails after confirming the path to the dll files in the registry is correct or if 8.3 is disabled, please do the following:
