Splex_uname doubles the number of CPUs; i.e. splex_uname returns number of CPUs that is double of the physical count. How will this impact licensing?
For example, all servers are 8 CPU machines. These are AIX servers with the "multi-threaded" feature. The splex_uname file is reporting these machines as having 16 CPUs even though the physical count is 8.
This happens because the servers have a "multi-threaded" feature.
Licencing needs to be informed when multi-threading is applicable (or the similar) and they will cut the key accordingly.
This behavior has been seen on Solaris and AIX. It could apply to other OS as well
