The Exchange Services node in the Diagnostic Console is red indicating an alert. Clicking the Exchange Services node shows the list of services and if they are required or not. If any service is not present on the Exchange server or a required service is stopped an alert is triggered
This list of services depends on the Exchange roles that are installed on the Exchange Server. Spotlight on Messaging only looks for the services that are required for the particular roles installed. Please see the following link for a list of all of the Exchange servers, the roles they apply to and if the service is required or optional: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee423542(EXCHG.140).aspx
Check the services on the Exchange server to determine if the service, which Spotlight on Messaging is alerting about, is running and/or installed.
Spotlight on Messaging uses the native Windows tools services.msc to query the services on the Exchange server.
