Connecting to a BlackBerry Database which is not a member of the domain. (4247732)

Can Spotlight on Messaging be configured to connect to a BES database which is hosted on a SQL server which is not a member of the AD Domain?

Currently Connecting Spotlight on Messaging currently only supports Windows Authentication when connecting to a BES Database. In order to allow connection to a workgroup based SQL Server, you would need to do the following.

1. Define a local user account on the SQL server that has the exact same username and password as the SOM service account
2. Define a login for that local user within the SQL Management Studio on the SQL server.
3. Provision the local account with the db_datareader role agains the BESmgmt database.
4. Make the local account on the SQL server a member of the local Administrators group.

Now when trying to connect to the SQL database the SOM service account will use passthrough authentication to connect and read the SQL database
