This article describes which directories should be excluded from being scanned by Anti-Virus software.
If these directories are not excluded MessageStats Tasks may run very slowly , hang or get stuck at some % complete.
The below instructions detail the folders that should be excluded Anti Virus scanning :
1) MessageStats - Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software OR C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell (depending on version)
If the Messagestats Application Logs and Tracking Logs are being stored in an alternate location please exclude these directories as well.
To identify the location of the Application Logs do the following:
1) Open the Messagestats console.
2) Expand 'Task Execution Servers'
3) Right click on the Task server listed and choose properties.
4) Click on the Task Logging Paths - this is the location where Messagestats stores the Application Log files. Exclude this location from being scanned by Anti-Virus.
To identify the location of the Tracking Logs do the following:
1) Open the Messagestats console.
2) Right click on Tasks.
3) Select the Tracking Log Cache tab.
Exclude the location specified under 'Save the Exchange tracking logs in' section from being scanned by Anti-Virus.
If you are running a host-based intrusion detection system that can restrict executables from running you will need to allow all executables in the MessageStats install directory.
