Why the disk full threshold is it set to 80% in the Disk Percentage Used alarm?
The purpose of the Disk - Disk Percentage Used alarm is to alert when a disk is using more than a percentage of the disk space. The threshold has been set at what we believe to be a sensible default for the bulk of Spotlight users - there is no MS best practice guideline for the amount of free space that should be left on a disk at any given time - this is almost completely up to the user. We recognize that our defaults will not suit all situations which is why we give users the ability to change the thresholds, and indeed, for alarms such as this we encourage the user to change the thresholds to directly suit their environment.
