There is a scenario in Toad where the table filter window (or other popup windows) can get stuck behind a describe window and make it look like Toad is frozen.
Clicking Esc returns focus back to Toad, but that pop up window can never be accessed.
Conflict with display, monitor, or video card settings.
The pop up window has focus and is not on the visible screen.
WORKAROUND:
Move the popup window to the visible screen. You can do this by using the window navigation menu and keyboard keys.
1. Select Toad window.
2. Click Alt+Spacebar on the keyboard. A navigation menu will pop on the left or right side of the screen. Note the side it appears.
3. Hit the M key on the keyboard, then use the arrow keys (right or left) to "move" the underlying window. If the menu popped up on the right, that means the hidden window is on the right, so use the left arrow key to move the window left, and vice versa.
4. Continue clicking the arrow button till a grey outline of the hidden window comes into the visible screen. Then click enter or use your mouse to click the desktop.
This will bring the window back back into view and you can continue working in Toad.
STATUS:
This issue is fixed in Toad for Oracle 11.0. This version can be downloaded from the downloads section of our website, which you can access by clicking here.
This can occur with various versions of Toad.
Initial issues addressed by Toad, but other situations with pop up windows could still occur if there are conflicts with the environment settings.
