Upgraded to Toad 9.6.1 from Toad 9.5 but had two shortcuts, one for 9.5 and the other for 9.6.1., but when launching the Toad 9.6.1 shortcut an error message appears saying "Unable to set encryption key".
Note: Using the Toad 9.5 shortcut successfully executes the Toad 9.5 application.
This can occur if starting Toad from an invalid shortcut.
or
The encryption key is based on the serial number of the drive. This serial number is provided by windows.
If windows can't provide the serial number of the drive then Toad can't set the encryption key. So this issue could be caused by having the 'User Files'-directory on a network drive.
(This has been changed in Toad version 9.7)
