Title
Get "This variable has a zero size" and "Syntax Check" message for code that is valid and has no syntax issues -
Description
When code is formatted or debugged, a "Syntax Check" message is shown for code that is valid and does not have any syntax problems.
Also, when hovering over the variable where the syntax error is shown, it says "This variable has a zero size". -
Cause
Issue with QP5.dll formatting file. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND #1:
Ignore the error and continue on.
WORKAROUND #2:
Revert back to Toad for Oracle 12.7. This was not an issue in v12.7.
WORKAROUNAD #3:
Replace the Toad 12.8 QP5.dll file, located in Toad for Oracle installation directory (by default it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Toad for Oracle 2015 R2 Suite\Toad for Oracle 12.8), with the 12.9 beta QP5.dll file or the 12.7 QP5.dll file. It is recommended to do this with the newer 12.9 beta file, instead of the older 12.7 file. There are no known issues with the 12.9 beta file, however, if it is used, take note that it is beta, so use it at your own risk. Also, make sure a backup is made of the 12.8 QP5 version, in case it needs to be reverted back to.STATUS:
