During the installation of Toad for Oracle, or installing the Optimizer module through Toad's installer, an error message prompt appears:
"Failed to download all of the selected products and updates. Check the Quest Installer log file for more information. The Quest Installer will now terminate."
or
"Failed to download all of the selected products and updates. Check the Quest Software Installer log file for more information. The Quest Software Installer will now terminate."
Then the installer shuts down to the desktop.
RESOLUTION 1:
Delete the old downloaded file and re-download Toad ‘directly’ to your Windows “Desktop” location (do not download to any network location). Then re-test the issue.
RESOLUTION 2:
Use a different web browser to do the download i.e. Chrome, Firefox, etc.
RESOLUTION 3:
Right-click the downloaded file and choose “Run as Administrator” (if available).
RESOLUTION 4:
Run Microsoft Fix It: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.
RESOLUTION 5:
Run the installer and choose to install only one application at a time. If that runs into an error, skip and move on to the next application and try to install that. When done, download the individual installers for only the application(s) that errored out.
RESOLUTION 6:
Turn off the UAC during installation:
- Go to Start Menu | Control Panel | User Accounts and Family Safety | User Account | Change User Account Control Setting. Drop the UAC to Never Notify to turn it off and click on OK. This will require a PC reboot.
RESOLUTION 7:
Install using the MSI installer instead of the exe. This can be downloaded from the Quest upport Portal also.
i.e. "Toad for Oracle 12.0 .MSI Installer (for 64-Bit Oracle Client)" or "Toad for Oracle 12.0 .MSI Installer (32-Bit)"
If other applications (i.e. Optimizer for Oracle, Spotlight, etc.) also need to be installed, more than just Toad for Oracle, please download and install the other applications on their own. Each can be downloaded seperately from our Support Portal by searching downloads for the individual application names.

RESOLUTION 8:
Perform a Windows Update.
Here are the instructions on how to check for Windows Updates:
RESOLUTION 9:
Use Windows MSCONFIG to limit the start up items.
1. Click on Start | Run.
2. Type msconfig and click OK.
3. On the General tab, select the Selective Startup radio button.
4. Uncheck Load Startup Items.
5. Click on Apply.
6. Click on Close.
7. Click on Restart to reboot the PC.
8. Once the PC is back up continue installation as normal.
Note: After installation, go back to MSCONFIG and select Normal Startup and reboot once more.
RESOLUTION 10:
Download the installer again from the website and try to install using the new installer. We suggest using Internet Explorer if other browsers are not working out.
Verify the file size with the expected file size published on the download page.
