What is the difference between deleting messages with a delete policy, and deleting message shells.
Delete Shells:
A shell is the stubbed message left over after Archive Manager has executed a strip policy on the message.
The bulk of the message is stripped out of Exchange and resides within the archive, leaving what is called a message shell.
In the policy you can age these shells, so that they are automatically removed from Exchange after a period of time.
Delete Policy:
A delete policy will delete messages and shells alike from Exchange based on a criteria as set out in the policy.
