Custom Code Catalogs Are Not Retained After Profile Migration in SQL Navigator

The folder where the Code Catalog files are stored is set to read-only, preventing SQL Navigator from saving changes.

Affected folders:

C:\Users<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\SQL Navigator x.x.x

Grant read and write permissions to the SQL Navigator profile folder.

Steps:

1. Close SQL Navigator.
2. Navigate to the appropriate folder:
   • C:\Users<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\SQL Navigator x.x.x
3. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
4. Go to the Security tab.
5. Ensure the user has Read and Write permissions.
6. Remove the Read-only attribute if it is enabled.
7. Apply the changes.
8. Reopen SQL Navigator and verify that custom Code Catalogs are retained.

Profile migration copies configuration data from a previous version, but if the destination folder does not have proper permissions, SQL Navigator cannot persist changes made during the session. This results in custom Code Catalogs appearing only temporarily and being lost after restart, even though the migration itself completes successfully.
