The Spotlight Diagnostic Test Engine service will not start (4237231)

The Spotlight Diagnostic Test Engine service is stopped and trying to start it fails.

The Spotlight Diagnostic Test Engine is not able to access the SpotlightManagementFramework database. It could be the Database is currently offline or the account which the Spotlight Diagnostic Test Engine service runs under has not been assigned the db_owner database role on the SpotlightManagementFramework database.

1. Check to make sure the Server that houses the SpotlightManagementFramework Database is online and the database is connectable.

2. Verify the db_owner database role to the account that run the Spotlight Diagnostic Test Engine service:

1. Open SQL Management Studio and connect to the SQL server where the SpotlightManagementFramework database is hosted
2. Expand Security | Logins, look for the account that the service is configured to run as
3. Right-click on the account and choose Properties
4. Click on User Mappings and in the Users Mapped to this login pane click on the SpotlightManagementFramework database
5. In the Database Role Memebership for: SpotlightManagementFramework the assigned roles should be: public and db_owner
