What is the procedure for load balancing Netapp auditing across multiple ChangeAuditor Agents -
Cause
It is only required to increase the number of agents in a given template if a single ChangeAuditor Agent cannot handle the volume of events (scan requests) generated by the NetApp filer. -
Resolution
Performance can be improved by assigning a NetApp Auditing template to more than one ChangeAuditor Agent. When multiple agents are assigned to the same NetApp Auditing template, events will be load balanced between these agents. The NetApp filer will send events to the assigned agents in a round-robin style. However, when using multiple agents the ’Where’ field for NetApp events may contain any one of these agents. In addition, if NetApp event logging is enabled in ChangeAuditor, events will be written on multiple agent servers.
Note:
Do not mix ChangeAuditor Agents across templates for multiple NetApp filers as the ’Where’ field for NetApp events may contain any one of these agents. This will introduce additional complexity if attempting to query data from a particular filer based on 'Where' criteria. In other words, a given ChangeAuditor Agent should be assigned to only one NetApp filer.
