The maintenance sub plan's properties have the setting "write to Windows Application Event Log" set to "never".
When "Write to Windows Application Event Log" is checked as 'never' messages stating the start and stop of LiteSpeed maintenance plans are still written to the application event logs. This is by design, as Windows services will still create event log entries even if "write to Windows Application Event Log" is set to "never" or disabled.
From the section titled Custom Log Provider in the Microsoft TechNet article Managing and Deploying SQL Server Integration Services. (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/mgngssis.mspx)
"To facilitate operations management, SSIS packages always write some basic logging information to the Windows event log, even for packages that do not incorporate logging. SSIS packages write events for package initiation and package completion and they can be identified using either the SQLISPackage or SQLISService event sources."
