Toad for Oracle closes out randomly, several times per day without warning. The entire Toad window just closes, without any error messages.
This occurs when clicking between windows that belong to a different connections or when closing a connection.
This issue started after installing 12.0 and was not an issue in 11.x.
Depending on the Oracle and/or network profile setup, a session may be set to "sniped" status after the connection has been idle. When trying to access the session again, Toad runs into conflicts and the whole application closes unexpectedly.
This may be specifically related to the display of the Object Palette and/or Toad's attempt to refresh a window/panel by running queries in the background on the sniped session.
WORKAROUND 1:
Use Session | Test connect (reconnect) on all sessions to make sure they are not sniped before changing connections/windows.
WORKAROUND 2:
Disable the object palette.
STATUS:
Waiting for fix in a future version of Toad for Oracle.
