Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise persistently throws the error Windows WMI connection - Access is denied in the alarm log.
It is not a limitation in the product. The OS returns Access denied error and it means access denied. The OS user does not have the appropriate permissions to access the server in question
Add user in admin group and use the test below to confirm that the user is now able to connect successfully. To test WMI availability:
1. On the DS-machine log on under the account used to run QDS;
2. Go to Computer Management and right-click on the Computer Management (Local) | Connect to another computer specify a name of monitored machine which reports about WMI-error (\\HOSTNAME);
3. Go to Services and Applications | rightclick on the WMI Control , go to properties in the context menu | be sure General tab is opened;
If the above test does not result in connected successfully problem will persist.
