How to connect to DB2 LUW (DB2 client). How to configure client profiles.
For detailed information, please refer to the Toad for Data Analysts Help file. Review the topic "Configure DB2 Client Connections"
There are 2 options for connecting to DB2 if using the DB2 client:
1. Manually add a new catalog.
2. Import a catalog from and existing client.
In the TDA Create New Connection window, select to connect to DB2. In the window there is an icon to "Launch DB2 Client Configuration Window".
From here, there is an option to "Add Catalog Entry", or to "Import Profile". Adding a catalog entry will open a wizard to collect information for a new entry. You will need
- Operating System for the server
- Host Name
- Port Number
- Instance Name
- Database Name
This will create a single entry and the alias will be listed in the drop down in the Create New Connection window.
If you import, you will need to have exported an existing DB2 client catalog from another client and have saved as a file. In the Client Configuration Wizard for importing a profile, you will direct Toad to the location and name of the exported catalog. TDA will import according, based off DB2 Connectivity Configuration Import Tool command db2cfimp.
Please also note, when you first launch Toad after installation, Toad provides an opportunity to transfer the catalog of an existing DB2 client on your local computer to your new Toad DB2 client. Toad will prompt you with a selection window to choose an exiting client to export from, if you wish.
These notes apply to various versions of TDA. Please refer to the help file for the specific version in use for up to date information. TDA has similar directions for connection to z/OS subsystems and Connection gateways. Please refer to the help file for details on these connection options.
