I am having problems in Performance Analysis setting up SMTP properties. When I try to send a test email, I am getting an error message that says "The sender is spoofed." How do I fix this?
The email sender address is not the same as the username specified to login to the SMTP server.
Spoofing emails means that the mime envelope for the email states a different email address than the actual sending email from address. The SMTP server sees that the users are not the same.
On the SMTP Properties page in PA, please make sure that the E-mail sender address matches the username specified to login to the SMTP server.
e.g. the SMTP email address I should use is my actual email (e.g.first.last@quest.com), and the SMTP server should be a valid SMTP server that actually recognizes that email address. In addition, the username / password specified should be the same user as the email address.
Also, the email gateway can be setup in such a way that the email address is on a white-list, so it won't get rejected.
