"ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor" occurs in the Oracle Auto Discovery or when verifying the connection in the Database Administration dashboard.

Resolution
Either the SID (instance name) is misspelled in the entry or the listener is not listening for it.
Run the 'lsnrctl status' command on the database server to see which databases the listener is listening for.
