Description

While running an automation script to export data from a Vertica connection to excel, one may see the error in the script's execution log:
File Export Error - [Vertica][VerticaDSII] (20) An error occurred during query execution: server closed the connection unexpectedly. This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request
Cause

Vertica's Knowledge Base says: "This happens when a large amount of data is brought back to the client. When using the transformer, you need to increase the ResultsBufferSize setting to something that is larger than the default of 128KB and lower than 3GB, since the transformer is a 32-bit product. Depending on the amount of memory on the transformer machine, consider setting ResultsBufferSize to 1,000,000".
Resolution

Follow Vertica's advice and use 1,000,000 as ResultsBufferSize in the ODBC-Client.
