Is, or can the license key be encrypted? Is it possible to hide it from an end user?
Toad 10.x and below:
The license key is not encrypted and cannot be hidden from the end user.
WORKAROUND:
Customize the toolbar to remove the "license" option from the Help menu. But this could be changed by the user if he/she wanted. The license key file is still visible as text also.
To customize the toolbar:
1. Right click over a blank area of the menu/toolbar.
2. Choose "Customize".
3. Click on the Help menu.
4. Click and drag off the menu, the option for "Licensing". Drop this off screen. This will remove the option from the menu.
5. Close the customize window.
Toad 11.x and above
The license key is encrypted in the HELP | Licensing window. It will only display the last 5 digits of your key.
WORKAROUND:
As the key can still be seen in the 'Modify Key' window, another option is to manually remove the 'Licensing' option from the Help menu. The can be done as follows:
1. Right-click the Help menu | Customize.
2. Then click back to the Help menu, and right-click 'Licensing' and click Delete, and it will remove it from view of the user.
