How to transfer Saved SQL History from Toad 7.6 to Toad 8.6 then to Toad 9.6
NOTE: Please make a backup of the mentioned files
THIS TRANSFER CONSISTS OF TWO STEPS. THE FIRST STEP IS FROM TOAD 7.6 TO TOAD 8.6. THE SECOND STEP IS TO PERFORM ANOTHER TRANSFER FROM TOAD 8.6 TO TOAD 9.6 or 9.7 or 10.5.
How to transfer Saved SQL History from Toad 7.6 to Toad 8.6:
1. Go to your Toad 8.6 | User Files folder.
2. Rename the SAVEDSQL.XML file to SAVEDSQL.XML.OLD.
3. Now go your Toad 7.6 folder and look for the PERSSQLS.DAT and SQLS.DAT files.
4. Copy these files to your Toad 8.6 ROOT directory.
5. Now go to your Toad 7.6 | Temps folder and look for the NAMEDSQL.DAT file.
6. Copy this file to your Toad 8.6 | User Files folder.
7. Launch TOAD 8.6 application.
8. You should now be able to view your Saved SQL History via View | SQL Command Recall (F8).
9. All of the .DAT files in the Toad 8.6 folder should disappear.
10. A new SAVEDSQL.XML will also be generated.Now that you have transferred your Toad 7.6 Saved SQL History to Toad 8.6, it should now be easy to transfer it from Toad 8.6 to Toad 9.6. See instructions below.
How to transfer Saved SQL History from Toad 8.6 to Toad 9.6:
1. Go to your Toad 9.6 | User Files folder.
2. Rename the existing SAVEDSQL.XML file to SAVEDSQL.XML.OLD.
3. Go to your Toad 8.6 | User Files folder, and look for the SAVEDSQL.XML file (make sure you are using the newly generated SAVEDSQL.XML file from the previous instructions above).
4. Copy and paste this file into your C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle 9.6\User Files folder.
5. You should now be able to view your Saved SQL History via View | SQL Command Recall (F8).How to transfer Saved SQL History from Toad 8.6 to Toad 9.7:
1. After successfully installing Toad 9.7.x.x, close Toad again.
2. Browse to the "C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle 9.6\User Files" folder and copy the SavedSQL.xml file.
3. Browse to the "C:\Documents and Settings\<user_name>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\9.7\User Files" directory.
4. Locate any existing SavedSQL.dat and re-name it to SavedSQL.dat.OLD.
5. Paste your SavedSQL.xml file from Step 2.
6. Launch Toad again and Toad will automatically back up your XML file and convert it to a DAT file to be used in Toad 9.7.2.5.
7. You should now be able to view your Saved SQL History via View | SQL Command Recall (F8).How to transfer Saved SQL History from Toad 8.6.1 to any version of Toad 10:
1. Perform the transfer from Toad 8.6 to Toad 9.7 using the above instructions
2. Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\9.7\User Files\
3. Perform a Copy on the SavedSQL.dat file
4. Paste this file in: C:\Documents and Settings\<your_user>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\10.5\User Files\ -
