Problems with Toad GUI. This may include problems with viewing toolbars/menus, title bars, data grid, and data.
Causes could be linked to Window resolution and settings or corrupted layout files.
*Note, please exit out of Toad before making these adjustments. You may need to restart the computer for changes to take full affect.
RESOLUTION 1:
Check your Windows display properties regarding resolution and font size. Is these settings are set too high or in some cases too low, it can throw off the Toad GUI affecting the way buttons, headings, and data are displayed.
RESOLUTION 2:
Rename the EditorLayout_<type>.lay and/or the MainFormLayout_default.lay files.
There are 5 of these types of files. They affect the layout format of the general editor window in Toad 8.6.1 and up.
EditorLayout_SQL.lay
EditorLayout_PLSQL.lay
EditorLayout_Text.lay
EditorLayout_XML.lay
EditorLayout_Hex.lay
The MainFormLayout_default.lay affects the general frame of Toad.
These files are located in the User Files folder. In Toad v8-v9.6.1, this is located in the Toad installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle ). In Toad v9.7 and up, it is located in the application data directory (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\<personal folder>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\9.7)
RESOLUTION 3:
Rename the Toad.ini file.
This is the settings files for most of what is set under View | Options. This is in the User Files folder. In Toad v8-v9.6.1, this is located in the Toad installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle ). In Toad v9.7 and up, it is located in the application data directory (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\<personal folder>\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle9.7)
RESOLUTION 4:
Rename the whole User Files folder.
In Toad v8-v9.6.1, this is located in the Toad installation directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle ). In Toad v9.7 and up, it is located in the application data directory (e.g. C:Documents and Settings<personal folder>Application DataQuest SoftwareToad for Oracle9.7)
Changes to files and directories through different versions of Toad could mean that some files or paths have changed or do not exist. Please keep in mind which version you're working with.
If there are issues with viewing the data, this may be more then just a GUI issue.
