After vpn into office desktop, or disconnecting and moving laptop, Toad seems to hang on launch.
Toad window is not within the viewable range of the monitor and is off screen.
This issue was more common in older versions of Toad, which didn't support/handle multiple monitor setup as well. Changing docking stations, moving from or chaing monitor setups, or using remote desktop to access another station could lead to this issue. Toad's main window or modular window may be set to display off the main screen, based off the previous open session. These display settings are stored in a user's Toad settings app data directory.
In some cases the settings could have been corrupted.
SOLUTION 1:
Mmoving the window back into the viewable screen by using alt+space+m.
1. Launch Toad, click onto the Toad task in the Windows task bar to verify that you have focus of the window.
2. On the keyboard, click alt+space. A window menu pop up should appear on your screen. Take note if it appeared on the far right or far left of your screen.
3. Click 'M'. If the menu pop up appears on the far right of your screen, then click your left mouse key to move the window left. Continue to click or hold down, till the hidden window is in the visible screen.
Or if the menu pop up appeared on the far left, use right arrow keys to move the hidden window into the viewable screen.
SOLUTION 3:
Manually adjust the main Toad window coordinates within the Toad.ini file.
The coordinates are in the Toad.ini, under [MAINFORM]. Search text in Toad.ini for "mainform", then clear out the values for TOP, LEFT, WIDTH, HEIGHT settings. Save the file and changes.
On the next launch of Toad, the windows coordinates will be set to default and within view. If default sizing still doesn't display correctly, try specifying the specific sample sizes, or look up size settings from another working install of Toad.
