1. Go to Monitor | Custom Counters.
2. In Custom Counter window, create new custom counters using Add button ("Default Settings" options has to be selected from top drop down)
3. Select instance name from "Select connection to configure" drop down
4. Use Edit Thresholds link to open Alarms window for this instance
5. "Custom Counters" should be selected as default inn Alarms list. Select Add button from Severities box
6. From Add Key popup select a custom counter name from drop down
7. Use Add Severity button to configure threshold for this custom counter
8. Repeat step 4-6 to add additional custom counters
