Foglight stalled on startup
Management Server log displays the followingERROR [main] com.quest.common.util.HostUtils - Could not determine a valid host name for this machine, using "localhost". It is possible that the host name for this machine has been set to something that is not resolvable via DNS or the local hosts file. Some functionality may be affected.
java.net.UnknownHostException: <Hostname>
FMS will continue to start, but the management server log will show that it stalls after the following lines
INFO [main] com.quest.nitro.startup.StartupConfigLoader - Forge Server starting up using HA JRMP Invoker port: 4447
INFO [main] com.quest.nitro.startup.StartupConfigLoader - Forge Server starting up using HA Pooled Invoker port: 4446
INFO [main] com.quest.nitro.startup.StartupConfigLoader - Forge Server starting up using HA JNDI UDP Auto Discovery port: 1102

Cause
The Foglight application and possibly the host OS could not resolve the hostname provided to Foglight could not be resolved. -
Resolution
- Workaround
- If a ping or the hostname is unresolveable, check the /etc/hosts file
- Add the hostname (Short and/or fully qualified domain name) to the loopback

FGL-16696 -
Additional Information
FGL-16696 has been filed to either ignore the error or fail on startup due to bad host resolution. The defect will be reviewed and resolved in a future release of Foglight.
