When using Exchange Emulation does the OS RME is installed on need to match the Exchange backup?

When putting Recovery Manager for Exchange in Emulation mode, is it a requirement for the operating system RME installed on match the OS of the Exchange server the backup was taken from?

E.g Exchange backup came from a Windows Server 2008 machine, does RME need to be Windows Server 2008 or can it be later?

The Release Notes mention the OS can be the current OS version or later.

A new requirement now with Recovery Manager for Exchange is the Operating System (OS) where RME is installed for Emulation mode it must match the OS that the Exchange backup came from.

This requirement is for any back up software that is listed in our release notes that uses Exchange Emulation.

In some instances a restore to RME in emulation mode might work, however if one should run into any problems it will not be supported unless the OS matches where the backup came from.

The Release notes and product documentation is will be updated in version 5.6.1 to reflect this requirement.

It was found that in a Restore from Netbackup to RME which was on a different OS then where the backup came from, Netbackup was incorrectly identifying the RME server during the restore causing it to fail. When the same OS as the backup was used with RME, it worked fine.
