When restoring a backup file from one server or instance to another.
Cause

When logging into the 2000 server instance andattempting torestore a higher version (2005) of backup to a lower version the error Too many backup devices specified for restore.Only 64 are allowed.RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally may display.
Resolution

Restorethe SQL Server 2005 database onto a SQL Server 2005 instance.
