Can an AD backup be mounted and data extracted from it?
Description
It is possible to mount an RMAD backup so that AD data can be extracted (objects, attributes) and output the extracted data to a list?
Resolution
RMAD backups cannot be mounted and then used to extract data from the backup. Using the Online Restore wizard you can view the attributes of the objects as they exist in the backup:
Start the Online Restore Wizard
Step through the wizard until you get to the Objects to Be Processed section
Use the Find, Browse or Import option to select the objects you want to view
If you use the Find or Browse option you can right click each object that is found and select Properties to view the attributes as they exist in the backup and what they are currently in AD
Once the objects have been imported (or after selecting them from the Find window and click OK) you can select each object, one by one, and click Properties to view the attributes as they exist in the backup and what they are currently in AD
