Title

Spotlight emails not generated when alarm threshold is reduced to a lower severity.
Description

Spotlight Alarm Actions rule is configured to generate emails when an alarm is cleared by using the 'The alarm has been cleared' condition. However, emails are not generated when a High severity alarm is cleared.
Cause

The 'The alarm has been cleared' condition is only met when an alarm severity is changed from High, Medium or Low to a Green (Normal) state. Condition is not met when alarm severity is reduced. Such as a High severity alarm changing to a Medium or Low.
Resolution

WORKAROUND:
Change alarm configuration to disable unwanted severity levels, for example Low and Medium:
1. From Configure tab of Spotlight, open Alarms window
2. Select the connection name from drop down list. Scroll down to the alarm name and edit it.
3. Disable the Low and Medium severities in this window.
4. Hit OK to save changes
Use Templates to apply the change to multiple connections if needed.
STATUS:
Enhancement request SES-68 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise.
