Description: Datacopy copy job fails fairly consistently about two-thirds or three-quarters into the job, with an Error saying Child Process error.
Symptoms: Looking at the Log Context of the Child Process error, it appears we are hitting End of Media (EOM) before we are expecting to. Get messages like “No Sense EOM”, “Got DEVMGR_EOM_WARNING_MSG clear bWaitForSync”. No matter how high we set the Early warning marker, the problem continued
Found that when we lowered the Blocksize from 256K to 64K the problem went away. Be aware that after doing this, any tapes you have that you want to restore from that have a 256K blocksize may have problems. You will need to reset the blocksize back up to 256K in order to restore. Note that a blocksize on a drive will not change until you blank and reformat the tape. Netvault only certifies its drive at 32K. Using anything besides that blocksize should be done with caution and much testing with backups and restores on your part.
