Description:
When running a file system backup which includes "System State" on Windows 2008 a delay is encountered before data is transferred to tape.
Symptoms:
When monitoring the job it's status remains "Waiting for job options" for a period of time.
The log entries for the job show several minutes elapse between "Adding System State System Files to selected files" and "Checking for SYSVOL files".
An equivalent Window 2003 backup does not experience the delay.
There is no solution or workaround since Windows 2008 System State backup includes more files than Windows 2003 System State backup.
Estimate the amount of time required to prepare for Windows 2008 System State backup by running a test using the "wbadmin" utility.

Determine the amount of time the Windows backup required to progress from "Identifying system state files to backup" to "Search for system state files complete". Note that "This may take a few minutes".
Having an estimate for the amount of time "Identifying system state files to backup" requires will allow a comparison to the amount of time NetVault takes to "Adding System State System Files to selected files".
