Title: Device Scans - Windows / Linux SAS
Date: April 13, 2010
NV Version: 8.x
OS Version: Windows
Application version:
Plugin version:
Description: NetVault fails to find SAS attached devices, with device targets higher then 48.
Symptoms: Windows Operating System detects and sees the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) attached device, NetVault fails to see the SAS attached Device. NVBU inability to see SAS devices in the Device Management when the SCSI IDs are higher then 48, due to SAS expanders.
You will need to create a SCSI.cfg file within $NVHOME\config directory., The file is not present by default. The content of the $NVHOME\config\scsi.cfg directory will be examined during the scan to see if any values have been inserted.
1. Create text file in the NVBU config directory:
$NVHOME\config\scsi.cfg
2. Add entries to control scan depth and width (for Windows Platforms Only)
[SCSI::max buses per card] MAX_SCSI_BUSSES = 4
[SCSI::max buses per card] MAX_SCSI_IDS = 60
[SCSI::max buses per card] MAX_SCSI_LUN = 8
Note: values maybe different depending upon the server hardware.
