Why doesn't the size of MSSQL transaction logs decrease after backup?
Symptoms:
After a successful transaction log backup, the backup job log shows transaction logs are truncated but the size of transaction log file remains the same.
After a successful transaction log backup, NetVault asks MSSQL server to purge transaction logs backed up. During this operation, the available room in the transaction log file for additional transaction logs is increased. However, MSSQL server does not shrink the size of transaction log file, unless an administrator asks MSSQL server to do so explicitly.
