Description: Attempting to migrate data from an EMC Celerra to a NetApp Filer or going the other direction. Attempting to restore any NDMP filer backup to a different operating system.
Symptoms: Receives Bad Tape Format when it tries to read tape

Resolution
These two Filer types NDMP are incompatible with each other and this is unsupported.
NDMP backups have to be restored using the NDMP plugin. They can be restored to a regular file system like Windows or Linux. They can only be restored to the same types of filers. NetApp backups have to be restoreed to NetApp filers. EMC backups have to be restored to EMC filers.
