Description:
This article explains how we calculate the capacity of media
Explanation:
The calculation that is used is as follows:
1MB = 1024 * 1024 ( 2 ^ 20 ) = 1,048,576 bytes
1GB = 1024 * 1024 * 1024 ( 2 ^ 30 ) = 1,073,741,824 bytes
NetVault: Backup works on a GB granularity, so if 1GB is purchased, capacity violations will only be reported when 2 GB or greater is exceeded.
All licensing operates on the 'overall capacity', meaning that both online and offline media is included in the calculation.
If a VTL is removed from the Netvault device manager and the media is no longer going to be used, the media must be removed from the Media Database.
If this media is not removed, it will reduce the amount of capacity available for new VTL's.
The media can either be removed manually from the Media Management screen, or the media can be blanke
