NVDB, specifically mediadb is too large. (4047299)

Description: The NetVault database is to large

Symptoms: Disk space low

There are several methods to manage a NetVault database:

Backup > Advanced Options > Backup Life > Discard after
Setting a 'Discard after' life maintains the nvdb at a relatively constant size
(You already have this set)

Backup > Advanced Options >Backup Life > Offline index after (x)
The index is taken offline but the information regarding that set can still be seen in the restore screen. If a restore is needed the tape would still need to be scanned but this would give you more information as to which tape(s) you need to scan in.

Restore > Saveset > Right-Click and select Compress] Indexes
Must be done on each index manually but would 'shrink' the total size of the mediadb
for the indexes (indices ?) that are retained. You would want to do this after removing the old-unwanted sets
