The library filer(XXX-XX-XXX-X) refused to add. Each time an attempt is made to add the filer, we noticed the tape library would hang.
Then when we go to check the NDMP status it would have been switched off. Trying to reset NDMP to on we always get this error message below:

ndmpd OFF.
No ndmpd sessions active.

The error produced is known at NetApp under the BUG ID: 496558, a upgrade to ONTAP 7.3.5.1. fixed the issue, but please check this with a NetApp Support Engineer before running any upgrades on the filer.
