Description:
Library/drives disappear after NetVault service restarted.
Symptoms:
After the NetVault service is restarted, the library/tape drive disappears the device manager. The library/tape drive can be re-add and will function normally. However the next time, NetVault service is restarted the library/tape drive disappears again.
The media database contain the tape drive information might be corrupted. To test if the media database is corrupted and causing NetVault to not store the library/tape drive informaiton,
1. Stop NetVault service in nvconfigurator.
2. Rename the mediadatabase under the %Netvault_Home%\db folder
3. Restart NetVault service, this will force NetVault to create a new mediadatabase.
4. Add the tape drive and save it.
5. Restart NetVault service to see if the tape drive stays.
As always, please make sure there is a good backup copy of the NetVault Database before any modification of files relating to the database.
