Jobs fail with a ‘device or resource busy’ error

This error is generally tied to another background process holding on to the VM being backed up or replicating.

1. Issue this command to verify there is not a Vizioncore process holding on to the VM: ps x | grep .vzbin.

This will demonstrate whether a Vizioncore process is holding on to the VM.

1. General command to determine other processes holding on to the VM: ps –ef | grep VMName.

To kill any errant process holding on to the VM, issue the following: kill -9 <PID> (this is the process ID of the process holding on to the VM).
