Description:
Restore from Netware-attached device fails due to NDMP mover internal error.
Symptoms:
Restoring over 256GB of data from Netware-attached device fails with the error similar to below.
Data transfer using a 'LOCAL' connection
NDMP: Restore job started
NDMP Error: Mover failed to position media
Mover has halted due to an internal error
NetVault module "netvault.nlm" fails to position tape to the correct segments when following conditions are met -
1. Restoring data from Netware-attached device.
2. The size of the Full backup or Full/Inc backups exceed 256GB.
3. Saveset information from Media Management shows a backup segment whose restore size exceeding 256GB.
4. At the time of restore, netvault.nlm has to skip over 256GB to position tape.
Data Copy the backup saveset to non-netware attached device (ex, VTL/Physical tape on the Backup Server) and then restore from the Data Copy backup.
